See Citizen-Centered Democracy in Practice

This section offers engaging ways to explore ideas in action through videos, learning opportunities, events, and other resources. Together, they invite deeper understanding, reflection, and participation in the work of strengthening citizenship and democracy.

Conversations on Democracy

Watch interviews with Forum members, practitioners, researchers, and citizens as they share their ideas, experiences, and perspectives on democracy and civic life. These conversations explore the challenges facing democratic communities, the role citizens can play, and the practical ways people are working to strengthen public dialogue, participation, and problem-solving.

Live Demonstrations

Learn more about individual methods, models, and civic initiatives through short presentations, interviews, demonstrations, recorded workshops, and simulations. These resources introduce the people behind the work, explain how each approach is designed to function, and show how participants engage with the process, exchange perspectives, work through complex questions, and move toward greater understanding or shared action.

Find Your Pathway

Not sure where to begin?

Explore methods, issues, initiatives, and resources based on your interests—and share feedback to help make the experience more useful to others over time.

You might begin by asking:

  • Do I want to facilitate a conversation?
  • Am I working on a particular public issue?
  • Am I looking for a method or practical tool?
  • Do I want examples of citizen-led action?
  • Am I interested in improving how an institution engages citizens?
  • Would I rather begin with a video or demonstration?

Help Grow the Citizen Learning Network

The Forum is developing a Citizen Learning Network—a growing, interactive resource designed to help people explore civic methods, issues, initiatives, and learning opportunities based on their interests.

Over time, visitor participation and feedback will help shape the network into an increasingly useful tool for learning, connection, and informed civic engagement.

This collection will continue to evolve as Forum members, collaborators, and visitors contribute new ideas, initiatives, research, and experiences.

Know of an approach that should be included?

America’s 250th anniversary is a time to look back — and to think seriously about what kind of democracy we want to carry forward. The Forum invites citizens, educators, community leaders, and others interested in civic renewal to explore new essays, emerging models, events, and conversations about how we can talk, think, and participate more constructively in democracy’s next chapter.
